Mounting the Seats Part 2 |
Please be seated
|
The seats were placed in the car as far outward and forward as possible (with the tracks extended forward) and the front two holes were marked. They're about 11-1/2 inches from the back of the tapeline if I remember correctly. The tapeline lets me know they're mounted straight in the car.
A carpenter's square was used to find the location of the rear holes to make sure they were installed square. It worked! The bolts in the seat mounts dropped right into the holes.

As you can see here, I lucked out and one of my mounting holes for each seat is in the steel structure of the body. |

Here's a shot of the underside. I'm not going to bolt them in place until I finish the car. The ones in the fiberglass floor will have large stainless washers. The one through the metal body support (with arrow) will have a longer bolt. The frame cross member hides one of the holes in this photo, but it's there – trust me.
She's looking more like a real car each step of the way. |
