Insulating the Firewall Part 3 |
Insulation Application
Dynamat is easily cut with a sheet metal shears. |
The piece of Dynamat was just enough to cover the plywood areas. A leftover piece of blanket insulation from our last car was used for the center area behind the distributor. It happened to have foil on both sides. At this point the firewall looked like this. It's now time to cover the under side of the cowl and kick panel areas. |
I also had some leftover blanket insulation with foil on one side. I'm going to glue the rest of the emergency blanket to it so that it' will be foil lined on both sides. |
Before covering up the Outlaw body serial number, I took a picture for my records. The number is readable on the large original photo. |
I had a roll of foil furnace tape on hand so I decided to use it to seal all the seams. This tape was also used along every edge to seal the insulation to the body. |
